A strong team from Slovenia

Adria Mobil

In the previous years it was certain that each Tour de Hongrie had at least one Slovenian team, our neighbour’s strongest squad, the Adria Mobil will attend Hungary’s biggest cycling race for the very first time.

The Slovenian team, Novo Mesto was established almost five decades ago, on 18 May 1972, their first huge success was a victory at the Balkan Championships in 1985 by Sandi Papez, then, five years later, Bogdan Fink, as a junior, won the first world championships medal for Yugoslavia.

Since then the team has become a professional one, from 1993 they have been the organiser of the Tour of Slovenia – this is one of the most prestigious race in the region.

„The continental team of Adria Mobil will be very quick in 2019, moreover, the return of Marko Kump and David Per means huge experience for us. The captain of the squad is Radoslav Rogina, who won the Tour of Slovenia in 2013, the aim with our eleven cyclist is to become the strongest team in the region, the last two years we almost made it” – said Bogdan Fink, sport director of Adria Mobil.

If we have already mentioned the cyclists, let’s present them, as it is definitely something must be done! Marko Kump has been the member of several really strong and world famous teams, for example, World-Tour squads, Tinkoff-Saxo, Lampre-Merida or UAE Team Emirates. The 30-year-old star was racing for the CCC Sprandi Polkowice last year, and until now he has 15 victories, this year he reached 3 with the Adria Mobil.

David Per was the team mate of the Italian world star, winner of Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana, Vincenzo Nibali in the World Tour team of Bahrain-Merida, the 24-year-old Slovenian now returned home.

Radoslav Rogina is a legend in his own country, Croatia, he is a double Olympian (he took part in the Beijing and London Olympics in 2008 and 2012), the 40-year-old hero has had 13 professional victories: 5 national championships titles and 6 wins in general classifications. Maybe the one should be highlighted is the victory at the 20th Tour of Slovenia, when Rogina became the winner ahead of Slovenia’s Polanc and German Sinkewitz.

Serbia’s Dusan Rajovic may arrive to Hungary as a national road champion, he also has had several stage victories from the past few years.

Tour de Hongrie, with its 890 km will start on 11 June, the UCI 2.1 race will finish on 16 June. 140 riders from 20 teams during 6 days are going to compete in Hungary.
