„It is truly incredible that the 40th Tour de Hongrie will start next week. We get used to it that we have this race, however it was renewed only 4 years ago” – said Mr. Mariusz Revesz, Government Commissioner of „Active Hungary”. If someone would have told us 4 years ago that we are going to reach this level we did, well, i am sure we could not have believed it. Year by year stronger and stronger teams are attending our race, which is having such a huge prestige now. Tour de Hongrie is a really amazing chance for Hungary and next year, in 2020 we will be able to welcome the peloton of Giro d’Italia, one of the world’s biggest cycling races, you may all know, it will start from Budapest. The Hungarian government is glad that more and more youngsters choose cycling.”

The special jerseys of Tour de Hongrie were presented at the press conference. Ms. Anna Nemeth, deputy CEO of Hungarian Tourism Agency said that Tour de Hongrie is a priorited sport event and one of the key events for sport tourism.

The very 1st Tour de Hongrie was organized in 1925 and there were long breaks and silence during the past century” – continued Mr. Peter Princzinger Dr., President of the Hungarian Cycling Federation. Karoly Eisenkrammer did all his best to renew the race, and now he has the support from Hungary’s government, sponsors, cities and of course, from the federation. Tour de Hongrie is the festival of cycling. Cycling without Tour de Hongrie would be like football without Champions League. Special doors are opening with it.”

Cofidis will be one of the main sponsors of the race. Mr. Bence Holló CEO said few words. „Cofidis has been supporting road cycling for more than 20 years now which is definitely unique, even on an international level. In my opinion we are on a good way. We would like to motivate people, to help them to be healthier and fitter.” Then he added Kometa Cycling Team is having a Hungarian rider now as not long ago Marton Dina joined the team of Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso. The two legends will arrive to Hungary as well.
